Hope4Haiti with Free Chili in Kensington this Wednesday

January 19, 2010 at 9:32 am - By: Ro · About Community.

Every third Wednesday of the month is a special evening for chili lovers in the Kensington area! Calgary Church, along with King's Bridge and the The House Coffee Sanctuary, host Kensington Community Suppers at the Hillhurst Community Center (1320, 5 Ave, NW).

What's the catch? Usually there is no catch. In fact, we are unashamedly committed to no catch chili. However, this time there's a catch. At our event this Wednesday (beginning at 6PM) we are going to collect donations on behalf of World Vision to help the relief efforts in Haiti. Everything you donate during the evening will be sent to World Vision AND will be doubled by the Canadian government.

Here's a great chance to get FREE chili and help an entire nation in need.

You don't have to live in Kensington, Sunnyside, or Hillhurst to stop by. If you're in the area shopping or passing by on the way home, you're welcome to take part.

Why are we doing this? We exist in the Kensington community and believe it's important for neighbors to get to know the people in their community. It's a chance to get out of the house and have a free bowl of chili, a chance to say hello to a new face, a chance to have a conversation with a new friend.

We also believe that it's our job to help those who are less fortunate, hence our tiny response to the huge catastrophe in Haiti.
