FREE CHILI! Kensington Community Meals

If you're looking for a way to connect with those who live around you then do it with free chili! A bunch of groups have combined to put together 'Community Meals' for the Kensington area. If you live in Kensington, Sunnyside, or Hillhurst, or are just passing through, then come visit Wednesday, August 19th, 2009, and then every third Wednesday of the mont for a chance to meet neighbours in your community.
No strings attached, but hey, if you can make chili and bring it bonus!

One of the coolest things about the Kensington Chilli Community Meals is the chance to listen to the stories of other people. Last night, I was able to sit and listen to an artist, a nobel peace prize nominee, for over an hour. Among her number of stories included one which bridged the gap between human suffering and healing. As we were talking she mentioned that at that precise time her painting was being shown in NY for a show that an US army vet from Iraq was putting on. The painting, called "the purpose", was part of a series of reflections of generosity towards restoration and peace in humanity.
All that over chili....looking forward to the next night in September, if you live in the area, we hope to see you there and hear your story!
