Inaugural Missional Leaders Dialogue a Success
March 21, 2009 at 4:54 pm - By: Ro · Missional Church in Alberta.Today marked the first leaders dialogue on things missional. I didn't have an 'agenda' for the conversation, rather, I was open to let the discussion take its own course.
We had a great time chatting with some pints over a couple of hours essentially conspiring ways to be catalysts in our communities to join God in his redemption plan.
Those who joined the conversation included:
- Shawn from North Ridge Church and New Church Calgary
- Lee from Calgary Social Dikai (Facebook group on social justice.)
- Rob from Bridge Talk and Cross the Bridge
- Rohadi from Calgary Church and Missional Church in Alberta (Facebook group)
Some additional thoughts we covered:
- A discussion on the necessities of 'incarnational' church. What does it mean to live out the gospel in our communities and how does our current model of church detract from this purpose?
- A discussion on the lack of evangelical identity emerged--what don't we have an identity? Should we create our own, how do we balance denomination, gospel story, and community when defining identity?
- Turning the fast into a feast--this was a chat on perspectives on how North American church deals with culture.
- Acknowledgment on the methods and models, that different models of connecting are welcome, but the need for broader community to draw together in celebration still remains. Although, conversely, the point of celebration isn't to attract into a building, but to draw existing networks together.
Thanks to all who participated. Hope to have a couple more local leaders join the fray for our next dialogue in a couple of months.
