Does this sound something like you?
Never been to church.
Never heard about one near by.
Never seen inside of one, and if you did, it had boring 80's decor or the 'big box' warehouse feel.
Parents never did the church thing.
Anything familiar? And then let's say one day you show up, just for kicks, maybe cause you had a bad week, you walk in, and realise, it's not so bad, but man, why is everyone so old and half the stuff they say makes no sense? Should you be able to at least understand what's going on?
I'd agree, sucks to be left out in the increasinly cold world.

Sunday afternoon, gearing up for the week ahead. What do you do? Many folks tend to congregate in a few locations, one of them being the local supermart.
What's funny about the whole situation is that everyone descends to the checkout at the same time, yet, amidst the huge influx of people, you'll barely hear a word or a sound. Quiet time in the city seems to be in the places where the most people congregate.
Funny how the places where you're in the closest proximity to people turns out to be the most quiet and lonely....buses, trains, supermarkets.....strange.

These days, there is a growing need for community, a need that increases as the size of the city increases, creating in the process higher levels of loneliness and isolation. It’s been said — and correctly, I think — that a big city can be the loneliest place on the planet. Perhaps for many, Calgary has truly become a big city. Continue reading »
